Went in excited for a marriage license. Came out upset and empty-handed. The staff was incredibly rude and told us of the short-staffedness being their inability to grant us a license (we arrived 45 min before the office closed). They also could not accept credit cards and only cash. The lack of resources is a shame, but the lack of human decency is inexcusable.

Not the finest experience as a proud tax-paying Gilpin resident. We will get our license from Ned.

they are so extremely lazy here. i wanted to get my license plates and i made an appt. i showed up a little early and she told me she couldnt see me bc she was booked up until my appt time. so i sat in the hallway and waited until my appt time, and they literally didnt have one person come through. these people are not there to help you, they are there to do the minimal work possible for a paycheck. disgusting.

If i could give zero stars I would, online scheduling apparently isn’t “accurate” and they don’t answer the phone yet get mad if you come in without an appointment? How are you supposed to make an appointment if they never answer the phone. They are also incredibly rude and don’t care how they speak to you.

An absolute shame…. In such a small town we now have to make appointments for motor vehicle dept. with the amount of people in Gilpin county they could give everyone plates in person in less then 6 months. So leaves plenty of free time. Like 6 months of free time. So I ask again why the appointments. To top it off when you make an appointment it’s 3weeks out so your plates will expire even if you do your do diligence and get plate early. Then if you own more then 2 vehicles you will have to schedule another appointment cause they will only do two transactions per person. Why!!!!!! This is ridiculous!!!!!

Would give zero stars if possible… the moment I walked in I could see the judgement on the lady’s face, as we began going over the service I was requesting, I couldn’t help but notice a lack of concern for respect. Every question I had felt the need to ask was answered in a snarky short tone, as well as an un-professional manner.

Because I dont have a home, they refused to allow me to register MY vehicle in MY name and so I will continue to drive with no plates for its now a state of colorado problem because they refused to do their job.

A lot of run arounds. I haven’t been able to get ahold of Inge. (The person they referred the dealer and I too.) One lucky day, he actually got ahold of her, she told the dealer- I’m trying to by a car from- that she would call him back.
That was over two weeks ago. Try to call today. Straight to voicemail. I’ve been very patient but I’m leaving this review until my issue is resolved.
This has been an on going issue for over ONE YEAR

I’m impressed. This team is highly functional and pleasant to work with. The changes in DMV procedures is clearly improving everything about this operation. Over the last two years I have noticed significant improvements. I’m starting to believe the Colorado DMV is a benchmark for functionality and convenience. Many commercial business could learn from this team. I know- hard to believe- but after two years of consistent high performance I had to write a review. Never thought I’d write this review about the notorious DMV. Good work!
