I found one of those "too good to be true" deals on eBay for a classic Phase Linear amp and preamp. The seller assured me they were working perfectly, so I made the purchase. I then found out the seller was in Croatia! After several weeks they finally arrived. Pro tip: Croatian appliances need 220 volts. Picked up a 110 to 220 converter from Amazon and set up my new system, and the right channel was full of distortion. This is where the awesome staff at Hi-Fi Workshop come in. They took care of my noisy preamp, replaced some iffy RCA jacks, and offered to change the voltage to an American friendly 110 volts. They did all this for what I was expecting to pay for just the preamp fix. If you're an audiophile I wouldn't recommend going anywhere else! Thanks guys.

If you own vintage home audio equipment that needs to be professionally repaired, look no further than the skilled electronic technicians at the Hi-Fi Workshop. They are located in midtown Tucson at 3565 E Speedway Blvd.

The Hi-Fi Workshop also sells and services major-brand “pre-owned” audio equipment that will appeal to audiophiles of all ages, particularly those who have a passion for quality "old-school" electronics that were specifically designed to maximize the sound of vinyl records and audio tape.

As a repeat customer, I can heartily recommend the Hi-Fi Workshop to anyone who has a keepsake turntable, stereo receiver, cassette recorder, or an 8-track player, all of which can be brought back to life at the Hi-Fi Workshop for a modest fee.

John, fixed my 1978 Marantz 1152DC amplifier that was in really bad shape, and made it like new! His attention to detail and superior knowledge about HiFi equipment is amazing. He was fair, honest, kind, and answered all my silly questions with a smile. HiFi Workshop is the place to go for all your HiFi needs.

I have an Infinity DSP Switching Amplifier, this was the first Hi-Fi digital amp, they were high end and few were built in the late 70's iirc less than 200. Schematics were never public, neither any service manual. It was working OK until few weeks ago, well almost perfect, it produced a low humming sound when no input was fed but it was hard to hear, but one day I could not get any more power. Knowing the age, design and no schematics I was very skeptical that I could ever have it running again. I live not too far from Tucson so I searched for places that repair High End Audio and after visiting few places one of them told me to go to the Hi-Fi store.
John (owner) , took his time and find out the initial problem (no power) and also told me that he found another area that he could repair to get the amp back to "normal".

Today I took the amplifier home, price was more than reasonable, I just hooked it into the system and not only works but also the humming that I noticed before the no-power event (btw I never told John about it, he found it) is gone.
You can not believe how happy I am, not only this great and unique amp is working again (kind of a collector's piece) but the cost was so minimal.
John works in any piece of Hi-Fi.

If you ever read this comment John, honestly THANK YOU.

I have a Cary SLP-05 that was experiencing noise when any remote (not just the Cary remote) was being used. I contacted Cary and they said to ship it to them so they could take a look. Two large boxes to NC and back was going to be EXPEN$IVE -- not to mention repair costs. I decided to see if I could get it repaired locally instead and took it to Hi-Fi Workshop. They found the problem and fixed it. The price was very reasonable and much less than what shipping to Cary would've cost. I let Cary know my problem was fixed and they asked what Hi-Fi Workshop did to solve the problem! I'm glad I found this place!

Great local audiophile/vintage stereo equipment shop with dedicated staff that knows how to fix and service classic era audio components and stand behind their work. Prices of components for sale are very reasonable with a 90 day return policy; good luck getting that from any retailer! I purchased a Yamaha receiver and had them service my 1960 Fisher tube receiver, a mid 70's Sherwood receiver and recently a Akai cassette deck, all with great results. Before you purchase from eBay, Amazon or other retailers, look at their inventory first. After 2 components that arrived either damaged from UPS or simply not working from a "100% feedback" eBay seller, I've learned my lesson. Shop local!
