Edit: We got our mortgage with JVM in September 24. They were great, and the genuinely personal way they attended to our one grievance made it easy to give them a 5 star review.

If you are buying a home, one thing we've learned is always go for a price reduction during negotiations rather than a seller credit. We wish we had held back the cash in our downpayment and asked the same amount as a reduction. We had an issue with some legal nonsense where we couldn't receive the whole credit because our closing costs were less than the credit. Don't want this to happen to any more buyers! But JVM really did try to make this right and we appreciated that a lot.

Other than that, JVM was very responsive and helpful and we feel we got a good rate and great service. This industry is tough to navigate, so educating yourself and talking to others who've been through it is probably the best thing you can do. All in all, we had a great experience and will work with JVM again in the future.
