As a professional appraiser, I have worked with countless lenders over the years, but my experience with United Wholesale Mortgage (UWM) was by far the most appalling and inhumane I have ever encountered.

During a devastating time in my life—when my daughter was diagnosed with cancer and ultimately passed away—I was unable to complete a final inspection on an order. I personally reached out to UWM to explain the situation, expecting at least a shred of understanding. Instead, they showed zero compassion and insisted that I complete the order, despite my circumstances.

When I was unable to do so, they removed me from their panel without hesitation. After my daughter passed, I called again to explain and ask if they would reconsider. Their response was cold and indifferent—they refused to reinstate me, completely disregarding the circumstances.

This level of disregard for human life and basic decency is beyond unethical. UWM operates with a complete lack of empathy, treating professionals as disposable and refusing to show even the slightest humanity. Their actions speak volumes about their values—or lack thereof.

If you are an appraiser, broker, or anyone considering doing business with UWM, be warned: they do not care about people. They are purely driven by their bottom line, with no regard for the real lives affected by their policies. I would never recommend working with them under any circumstances.

I have been trying to get a hold of someone for days every time I put in my loan information says my loan was transferred I've never seen any information on this. I wish I could speak to an actual human

I am livid with this company’s standards for business practices. They incorrectly connected our mortgage account to another individual’s home insurance policy. It is an additional $732 per month for our mortgage until they receive the full balance from the home insurance company. We had auto draft on and they just stole the money and won’t give it back or drop the incorrect policy despite their knowledge that it is the wrong policy. They are holding the us the customer hostage for their mistake. We are already out the money and they expect us to pay the extra $732 again in a couple of weeks. Steer clear of this company. They are immoral people.

Do not EVER use this mortgage company. They have failed to pay insurance premiums so they can charge triple for theirs. They have been called and emailed. Can never get a human. They will not respond to any emails. This place is a joke/scam.

UWM always offers the best service to its team members and clients. You can tell Mat really cares about what he does, and moreso about the people he can affect positively than the money. Rest assured even if something does go awry, as a small amount of loans do due to human error, it’ll be made right. Good people

Borrowed from UWM but do to misunderstanding on calls with customer service, our mortgage was not paid properly. Good rates but customer service can definitely be improved.
